Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Cut for stolen obsidian cluster
Data Category Information: Description: scoop
Dimensions: 0.34m e-w x 0.41m n-s x 0.26m
Discussion: 5111 was the irregularly shaped cut that contained the ashy clay, obsidian rich deposit 5095. The northern part of the cut was more regular, being circular in plan and almost vertically sided. It may be that this was the original cut which was infilled then re-dug at a later date, producing the more irregular form that was recorded on excavation. This would be fitting with interpretation of this 'pit' as an obsidian hoard which was retrieved and used.
Shape: An irregular elongated oval
Sides: Almost vertical to the north, stepped to the south
Base Break: Sharp, especially to the north
Base: Sloping from south to north
Orientation: No obvious orientation
