2nd floor of the burial lid - cut into F.162: NW cover at basal boundary, phytoliths (possibly of a basket) was encountered. A small portion of phytolith is also evident in the SW portion. An adult human xxx was found near or in the animal burrow, and within the phytolith area. The basket specialist (Villeka) looked at the phytoliths and suggested we cover them in plastic overnight. She was unsure as to whether they were baskets or not.
This unit floor was not solid white but mottled in appearance (more so than previous floors above). The whitish colored plaster was mixed with light brown packing material> The NE edge was mot as clearly defined as the SE edge, even in profile.
Unit was continued in eastern portion after baulk was removed (7/8/00). Eastern edge of burial cut was now clearly defined.
