Dimensions: 22.7m EW x 9m NS x 0.3m Deep
Discussion: Layer of sediment (eroded mudbrick etc.) below topsoil (though cut by recent pits). Removed as arbitrary 10cm spit. Large concentrations of pot (probably from 1960s excavations), particularly in SE of excavation area. Large numbers of grinding stones also noted.
At the western end the spit was 0.2m deep - to level the surface. Eventually 0.3m removed, in Western most part of trench in particular.
