Unit 8632
Category: Layer dug in 2003
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: midden-like packing - fill
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: Another layer of muddle-like deposit under the last floor in sp. 88 (U. 8620) and U. 8628. There is no striking difference between U. 8628 and this one except that when this unit was removed, a larger area with rubble (compact layer with bricky material, chunks of plaster and greasy stuffed reddish clay) connected with the wall was discovered within units 8619/8620. Within this unit a great number of animal bones were found; obsidian flakes, fragments of clay balls and stone objects were found as well.
It might be that the inhabitants used middeny material and rubble of the destroyed walls to fill in the depression at the bottom of the future sp. 88.
This unit did nit expose the bottom end of of the N wall of sp. 88, which was one of the aims of removing this 30 cm thick layer of packing/fill.
