Unit 8861
Category: layer dug in 2004
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: fill, fill of midden pit
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: heterogeneous; Basal Spit: basal deposit
Discussion: Recognized as a yellowish patch with white spots (probably organic), cut in the midden deposit in sp. 226. It was sectioned to show that it is rather a depression towards E extent and a shallow cut (both made in the midden) in the W part. However, the E half revealed proper layering of this material and midden deposits, which we did not encounter in the upper (arbitrary) layers of midden in sp. 226 (U. 8854, 8859). This means that the unit might actually continue to the E as a layer in the midden.
See U. 8862.
