Unit 8983
Category: skeleton dug in 2004
Area: TP
Interpretive Categories: Post-chalcolithic human skeleton
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: Late period grave (i.e. Late Roman/Byzantine) containing well-preserved skeleton of an older adult male. Facial skeleton detached post mortem from cranium on left side, mandible dislodged to right side.
Possible rodent growing on margins of cranial break. Right fibula found near lower right arm (rodents?) and right hand not in situ (hand bones found scattered in grave fill).
This grave pit (feature 1171) was dug into an older cut (unit 8974).
İn the fill of this grave some fragments of mudbricks were found - two of them were lying on the skeleton - one the left side and the other on the ribs.
No grave goods.
