Unit description: Small amount of material from dry sieve, mostly fragments (modern breaks) of chunk of sheep-size skull. Also some long bone and rib fragments of medium and large mammals; no diagnostics. Only one fragment burnt. Somewhat weathered, not trampled or rolled. No gnawing or digestion. Sample 149 >4mm flotation 100% sorted, recorded completely. Moderate size for flotation sample. Mostly sheep-size, with some large mammal. X3 is a nearly complete cattle scapula, unworked, unburnt. Fairly even body part distribution, somewhat short on long bones. A certain tendency to burnt sheep's feet, including what could be several toes from a single foot. About half burnt, much at high temperatures. Range of fragment sizes, some pretty large. Lots of little crumbles, but these are largely the result of modern breaks. Somewhat weathered, matte surfaces, but doesn't look rolled or trampled. Some coherence in sheep's feet, otherwise mixed. Not really middeny; more like dirty fill, with sheep's feet and cattle scapula perhaps coming from house occupation. Bone burned in big pieces; thrown in fire rather than tossed where exposed to dogs? Little or no gnawing or digestion.
