Unit 13692
Category: Layer dug in 2006
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: flue, post retrieval pit, tall, skinny bin
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: bin; Material: pise-like; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: North side of feature defined by wall F1491. West side defined by internal wall F1654. Both walls plastered behind feature. South and east of feature defined by bin like construction of a core of mid brown silty clay with phytoliths (possibly organic temper). Inside of feature plastered white with at least one phase of makeup and replastering in the base. A fragment of red paint is visible inside feature on internal wall F 1654 but unclear if this relates to feature or is an earlier painting on the wall. Outside of feature is repeatedly replastered white with the plaster continuing along walls F1654 and F1491.
Discussion: Originally thought to be a post retrieval pit BUT not dug into floors, no evidence of timber impression in in plaster at back of feature and inside of feature repeatedly replastered.
Appears to be a tall thin bin.
Recognition: sticks out from wall
Definition: extent clear, function and form unclear
Execution: trowel
Condition: hot, dry
