Discussion: Unit 20229 represents the fill from f.3947 - a pit with a much smaller extent than that identified by the presence of the dark, loose soil characterizing u. 20229. This is likely due to wind and spillover, as was likely the case with u.20225 in f. 3953. The unit was closed at the identification of a compact, reddish brown clay loam blending with the section of the cut. There were almost no artifacts in this layer, except some bone fragments.

Consistency: loose to friable 

Colour: dark greyish brown 

Texture: silty clay loam
