Description: No clear basal boundary, the shift to U.20398 is arbitrary. 

Discussion: The layer/fill was recognized as a separate fill from makeup u.20375 since it was under/earlier than wall F.3560. It consisted of a mix of soil, waste material and remains of earlier structures such as walls etc. Bricks, mortar etc. were above all found in the lower parts of the fill = first fill of demolished walls from earlier building. 

Consistency: Very compact 

Colour: Mid brown 

Texture: Silty clay 

Bedding: Layered 

Inclusions: Brick, mortar, plaster, charcoal 

Post-depositional Features: Erosion, animal burrows, burial cuts 

Basal Boundary: Unclear
