Unit 20985
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Grey plaster floors and make-up
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: building; Material: plaster; Deposition: heterogeneous; Basal Spit: unpainted
Discussion: Unit comprising three clean grey plaster floors (each 1-2mm thickness) and their respective make-ups (orangish brown clayish silt) underneath.
These floors have been excavated as one unit to speed up the excavation process and also due to the fact that they have been sampled for micromorphology and will be studied microscopically in the lab.
This unit is sloping towards the south 10-20º.
These floors are particularly difficult to excavate because they converge at points and separate at others, making them hard to follow in plan.
Consistency: Soft
Colour: Light grey (floors) and orangish brown (make-up)
Texture: Clay (floors) and clayish silt (make-up)
Bedding: Compound layered (clay and clayish silt)
Inclusions: Phytoliths
Post-depositional Features: Bioturbation (burrows and roots)
