Base of the layer also includes the top 0.05-0.1 m of the next layer down (2533) - this may therefore affect any attempt to uncover vertical differentiation in (2162) and (2500) (GML)

Colour: 2.5 Y 5/3 light onlive brown, but there is some mottling and occasional fine layering of darker grey and organic brown material

Texture: sandy clayey loam

Bedding: largely massive, but with some fine layering within it

Inclusions: occasional fragments of mudbrick (<30mm <2%); occasional fragments of burnt daub (<50mm <2%); occasional lumps of finely layered plaster (<60mm <2%), also finely crushed plaster; occasional charcoal, most in scattered lecks <5mm, but some larger (c.10mm) lumps are also present

Post-depositional Features: some limited fine rootlet penetration, some small mammal burrowing, but also some unusual vertical cracking filled with a fine silt (the result of sun cracking, or earthquakes. this cracking up to 0.30 m deep.
