Discussion: This is the floor level that Mellaart stopped at - originally believed that not much of this floor survived & that he truncated most of them, however on excavation these came off in clear horizons, but 30 years of exposure and root activity made following only one floor horizon very difficult. There are also not only (?) clear prepared (i.e. laid) floors, to the SW these deposits are finely layered plaster floors, with mud plaster between or lensed with ashy trampled type deposits, further in the area. These deposits appear more multiple accumulative floor horizons of ash & mud. whilst digging these a burial was found and also the base of another hearth feature, therefore inadvertently the flotation sample will e somewhat mixed.
These floors lip up to the platform to the W.

20.9: Subsequent investigations have shown the burial was cut from below (2727) because of contamination and the varied nature of post-depositional survival of these floors, this deposit was slip into (2708) and (2801)

Consistency: moderately firm 

Colour: plaster floor 2.5 Y 8/2 pale yellow; mud preparatory packign 2.5 Y 6/2 light brownish grey; 'trample' deposits 2.5 Y 5/2 greyish brown 

Texture: silty clay 

Bedding: layered 

Inclusions: 1% <2 mm charcoal flecks; 2% <4mm plaster aggregates 

Post-depositional Features: heavily cracked and disturbed by root activity 

Basal Boundary: clear anthropogenic, fairly level but uneven
