Unit 3666
Category: layer dug in 1998
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: platform make up
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: raised area (platform); Material: pise-like; Deposition: homogeneous
Dimensions: 0.55 m NW-SE; 0.4 m NE-SW; 0.05 m deep
Discussion: Layer of finely layered plaster material surviving in a small patch to the SW of platform F.288 and abutting this platform. The deposit has been truncated by post pit (cut (2758)) and was not observable beyond this. Some of (3666) appears to have subsequently slumped into the pit which cut through it as the clearly observable in situ horizontal laminated plaster becomes fragmented towards the edge of the cut and then turns vertically to into the cut . (3666) also overlies material very similar and probably the same as the 'oven debris' in squares to the S and ?? to the fire installation feature in the square directly S. Interpretation of the unit is difficult because of the heavy truncation but may have been a late phase in the construction of platform F.288 used to 'square up' the SW corner of the feature.
Recognition: Small deposit of mottled brown material abutting platform in NE corner of space 117 (F.288) and cut to W by post retreival pit (2758).
Definition: Clear boundary with platform. Probably fill of platform rather than abutting it.
Execution: Trowel and leaf trowel, following edge.
Condition: Dry.
Consistency: firm but slightly friable
Colour: 2.5 Y 6/3 light yellowish brown; 2.5 Y 8/1 white
Texture: silt loam
Bedding: layered
Inclusions: none apparent
Post-depositional Features: truncation by pit cut (2758)
Basal Boundary: clear/undulating/anthropogenic/flat then sloping

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
