Discussion: Large block of compact layered plastering in SW corner of F.288, consisting of a very thick grey layer and finer layer of this and white layers. 

 

Recognition: Large block of material underlying pale plasters (3684) to S and (3692). 

Definition: Clear boundary with underlying white plaster below to E, not so clear to N. 

Execution: Trowel/leaf trowel. 

Condition: Dry. 

Consistency: firm 

Colour: 10 YR 5/3 brown; 2.5 Y 8/2 pale yellow 

Texture: silty clay loam 

Bedding: compound layered 

Inclusions: 5% charcoal flecks, 1% small bone frags. 

Post-depositional Features: salts, phytoliths, roots 

Basal Boundary: clear/smooth/anthropogenic
