A rather thick (up to 36 cm) layer of ash, somewhere in the middle of space 158. Underlying unit 6112. It actually consists of 2 different types of mat. collected as one. The first is (epicentre) extremely thick layer of ash (up to 6 cm), 35 cm along the screen wall, going underneath the baulk. The other one is a mixture of cons. rubble/room infill w/ ash & charcoal of this unit? (same as 6123, 6133).
-ash was often sandwiched between 2 layers of rubble & some rubble chunks (& plaster) were completely immersed in ash => mixed but with tendency of fine layering and mixing over period of time.

Unit description: Sample 1 >4 mm flotation 100% sorted, recorded completely. Larger than floor units. Moderate amount of low temperature burning (20%?). Almost as much large mammal as sheep-size. Pretty even body part distribution. Several pieces of perinatal sheep/goat, probably a single individual, suggesting a certain integrity. Range of fragment sizes, weathering quite variable. Seems like a mixed-origin unit, but including a somewhat disturbed perinatal lamb; looks like fill. Burning may have happened before or after redeposition, but looks accidental, not roasting.
