Unit 7916
Category: layer dug in 2004
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: platform fill,Room fill
Data Category Information: Location: building; Deposition: heterogeneous
Description: Arbitrary pit sunk into SW corner of Space 100 to determine floor level.
Fast track
Discussion: The goal of this unit is to find the level of the floor. It was begun with the pick rather than the trowel. While the fill was heterogeneous at first, containing many scattered animal bones, it soon became more compact with fully visible fallen mud bricks and larger plaster pieces. Some small stones present. X-finds: 1 worked bone, 1 piece of clay ball. At the bottom of layer, we came down on and cut into (inadvertently) the top part of a bin. Excavation was halted so we can brıng the rest of Space 100 down to the archaeological level tomorrow.
