Unit 8650
Category: layer dug in 2003
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: packing (bricks and clay)
Data Category Information: none
Dimensions: wall and packing N-S - 1.80 m; E-W - 0.40 m (fill - N-S- 0.80; E-W - 0.14)
Discussion: The is part arbitrary and was aimed at enclearing the "opening" (F. 633) in the E wall of build. 3. We removed a packing consisting of 4 courses of thin mudbrick pieces (4 cm) and thin layers of crumbly mortar between them. At some parts of the unit the packing was made of clay only. E from the E wall there is a narrower mudbrick wall (F. 1023), 0.28-30 cm wide.
It is still not very clear whether the "opening" was a door, a crawlhole or some sort of "staircase".
