Unit 22640
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: burial fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: This fill is recognizable in the NW corner of platform F. 7950, where it disappears underneath the room fill left attached to wall F. 7707 in order to preserve the plaster on this wall. It is decidedly orange, in contrast to the white-grey plaster on the surface of the platform. Although samples were taken, the fill was not excavated in 2015.
Discussion: This recognizable patch of orange soil is one of three such circular patches found at the very surface of platform F. 7950 after removing the room fill U. 22635. Excavation was begun in 2015 but could not continue as long as the excavation of F. 7956 was ongoing because there was not enough room on the platform; the F. 7965 excavation continued until the end of the 2015 season. This should be one of the first things revisited in 2016.
