Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: floor (packing only); Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: Ashy layer that sealed the early dirty floor U.22848 (NFE) in the south-eastern corner of Sp.537 of B.142. It consisted of many lenses of ash and clay which were excavated within one unit number. This layer accumulated over southern massive foundation of B.142 and, most likely, against oven F.8551. The estern part of the unit situated alongside the eastern wall of B.142 continued behind the limit of excavation and was left unexcavated.
Consistency: friable / firm
Colour: dark grey, greyish, brownish
Texture: sandy silt, ash
Bedding: compound layered: fine and multiple ash and clay lensses
Inclusions: charcoal, clay aggregates
Post-depositional Features: truncation by possible ladder retrieval pit F.8070, western part has eroded since 1960's excavation
Basal Boundary: constructional (plastered floor surface)
