Unit 30125
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: mud-brick
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: The execution of the southern wall of sp. 488 (F.3646) revealed 10 courses of the bricks in the Western part of the feature and 8 in its Eastern part. The preservation of the described constructional material facilitated to distinguish particular components of the wall and to record their dimensions. The heights of the bricks varied from 8,5-9 cm, their width varied between 32 and 33cm and length 82-83cm.
2014 Excavation Season
The execution of the southern wall of sp.488 (F.3646) allowed to analyze the western part of the mentioned feature, due to its partial excavation, carried out in 2013. In the course of the research activities in 2014 there were 8 courses of bricks (0,32m x 0,84m x0,08m) uncovered within the eastern part of the feature and its western part consisted of single layer of the brick. The mud-brick structure within its lower part composed of components that were varied in types and size. Undertaken research brought supplementary amount of the deposit (430 liters), that has been added to the previous achieved volume in 2013.
Further excavation in 2015 by A. Klimowicz:
- In 2015, the excavation of the bricks U.30125 had been continued. It was possible to record additional 3 courses of the constructional material in the most upper S-W part of the previously recognized wall alignment [F.3646].
Worth noticing is that the placement and orientation of the bricks within mentioned part were different than in the Eastern and lower parts of the feature [3646], where the building material was set parallel, next to the northern face of the wall F3679 to retain it. In contrary to the latter, within SW segment the bricks were joint by partial bonding and overlapping the older structure [F.3679] probably in order to strengthen the double wall constitution.
In the course of the excavation the volume of executed deposit increased (plus unsieved 66 L) up to total amount of 591,4 L.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
