Discussion: These red/orange bricks were built into the lower part of the wall. The mortar stays the same throughout. The bricks do not continue all the way across but seem to have been placed in fairly randomly. To the eastern end of wall 403 these redder bricks extend out of the normal line of wall 403 northwards in the direction of wall 401. The upper part of the south edge of wall 401 overhangs these red bricks - see sketch.
