Discussion: The small sondage trench was made to see the relationship between the wall F.3679 and the eastern wall. The upper part (some centimetres) of the unit, especially the south west corner, consisted of midden like material, similar to the unit above (U.19581). The archive and flotation samples were taken from this material. The wall F.3679 seems to continue at least to the depth of the bottom of the sodage. At all four sides of the sondage there were grey bricks and yellowish mortar. The southern bricks (3 rows c. 4cm thick each) are part of a deeper wall that continues to the south. The bricks at the northern side are probably a continuation of the same wall. To the east the bricks continue under the upper yellow brick wall. To the west, 3 rows of bricks could be seen, which are not a part of the wall F.3679, since they continue at least 0.2m south of its southern wall side. In the deeper part of the sondage there were a lot of animal burrows. There were no finds in the trench, except possibly in the flotation sample.
