Discussion: This unit contained the foundation bricks and mortar making the southern wall (f3660) of sp. 40. The unit was made of three large bricks each with slightly different height. The unit was excavated using a trowel and pickaxe in order to remove the larger more compacted sections of the wall. The westernmost brick was made of sand. Most likely the bricks were reused. Mortar was observed below the two east bricks, but not the third. This could be a preservation issue; it could also mean that the sandy brick was so called original.
