Discussion: Basal 'lining' make-up / levelling to FI 82. Very dense material, appears at once very like brick material, some more rubbish type deposit in patches. Natural salting appeared at the basal interface. Slightly scorched to the SW, also where the deposit is slightly thinner. The layer underlies the whole of the FI structure and peters out below the floors in the main space. Its not clear whether this deposit underlay the floors as too little survives from the 1960's excavation. The reason against this underlying the whole floor is due to its absence in the northern section where a patch of floor does survive.
