Dimensions: 0.65 m E/W x 0.65 m N/S x 0.35 m deep 

 

Discussion: Small, (compared to 2707, 2731 and 2373), post-removal cut, possibly smaller showing respect for hearth to W of cut (only my theory, RR).

In 1999 it transpired that [2712] was not properly bottomed and (4141)/(4142) had been left in the base. Base now at 10005.01 which makes this cut similar to other post-retrival pits. 

 

Execution: handpick and trowel 

Condition: shaded 

Shape: irregular, sub-rectangular 

Sides: irregular slope between 60 and 80 degrees 

Base Break: sharp on W and N, less so on E 

Base: relatively flat 

Orientation: aligned along wall 71
