Unit 2736
Category: layer dug in 1997
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: accumulated deposit,packing
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: oven; Material: pise-like; Deposition: heterogeneous
Dimensions: 8 mm to north x 0.2 m max width to south x 40 mm deep
Discussion: This deposit is the 'ridge' discussed in (2701) over which the horncore (2701. x1) is believed to have extended over. It represents the same activity event as the 'rim' 2733 and appears similar in composition and accumulative deposition events as (2733).Divided in order to assess these changes by flotation.
The nature of (2733) and (2736) is such that I wonder whether these deposits were left by Mellaart as he worked down through the FI, that possibly a higher superstructure was found and as he cleaned down the sides this earlier material was inadvertently pedestalled.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
