Description: Not fully excavated 1997, therefore no stratigraphical value.

This mortar was extremely difficult to see in section and especially hard to distinguish from mudbricks. Upon excavation the distinction was clear, and mortar appears to be prefect between each course of mudbrick and seems to be a fairly consistent width of c. 2-4 cm.

Sieved with (8436) and NOT SAMPLED THIS SEASON AS NOT FULLY EXCAVATED! 

Condition: dry and nice 

Consistency: firm to friable 

Colour:  

Texture: clay silt 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: 2 % charcoal flecks 

Post-depositional Features: mole rat hole, cracking 

Basal Boundary: Not fully exvcavated ( but sharp boundary with mudbrick)
