Unit 3343
Category: layer dug in 1998
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: floors,infill
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: occupation; Deposition: composite (floor/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation)
Dimensions: 0.88 m E-W x 0.76 m N-S x 0.12 m
Discussion: The soil was pretty much sterile, with few pieces of bone. At some parts, there were orangey small blocks, probably construction material, like brick or mortar, within the fill. All this gave the impression that this was an infill. The quality was the same as (3344). Another reason why the bulk was taken out aswell is that there seems to be no layering within the infill as it seems on the E section, so we decided that the E section was quite misleading.
June 2000- this was re interpreted as floors, fine discontinuous lenses of plaster and occupation, some contamination from overlying fill removed as spits. (sf)
Recognition: It is an arbitrary layer made underneath infill (3191). The reason why this layer was made is because we came closer to the floors in space 160, so decided to divide the area in two and leave a bulk in the middle to see the layers. This unit is the western part of infill in space 160.
