Discussion: This is the layer underneath (3191) which was infill. This layer is infill as well. As I mentioned in (3191), space 160 was divided by a bulk from the middle to understand the layering in the room. We tried following the layering by looking at the section of the fill on the E end. There seems to be layers on the section, but once the area starts being excavated no layers can easily be distinguished, so we think that the section is quite misleading. In the layer, there were aggregates of brick and plaster, underneath this layer a lighter coloured layer came out which was given numer (3379).
Note that the bulk was taken off while excavating (3343), (3379).
(see note [3343] sf June 2000)
Recognition: It is an arbitrary layer, made underneath infill 3191. The reason why this layer was made is because we came close to the floors in space 160, so decided to divide the area in two and leave a bulk in between to see the layers. So this unit is the E part of infill in space 160.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
