Discussion: Layer of slightly ashy grey-brown material below (3913) in Filbert, N of oven F.269 and abutting outer oven structure. Consists of a number of very thin lenses with the lowest of these, whilst being very intermittent, clearly lapping up the side of the oven structure. Possibly oven rake out material incorporated into a general floor levelling/make up phase. 

Recognition: Brown layer seen after removal of (3913) and abutting other oven deposit. 

Definition: Clear boundary to S with oven deposits. 

Execution: Trowel, leaf trowel. 

Condition: Dry. 

Consistency: firm 

Colour: 2.5 Y 6/2 light browinish grey; 2.5 Y 5/1 grey 

Texture: silt loam 

Bedding: compound layered 

Inclusions: 5% charcoal 

Post-depositional Features: small roots, salts 

Basal Boundary: clear/smooth/anthropogenic/sloping down to the W
