Unit description: A small unit, coming from flotation sample 1 in its entirety (>4mm, 100% sorted and recorded). The bone is mainy sheep and cattle sized scrap, with just a few diagnostics - a sheep goat distal tibia, tarsal and phalanx - each very fragmented pieces which could be digested. There is also a huge (cattle sized) clean white and very freshly preserved petrous, which stands out from the rest of the bone both by its size and condition (maybe intrustive??). The rest consists of cattle sized longbone frags, and sheep sized longbone, rib, vert and tooth frags. Condition: Fragment size is varied with many pieces less than 1cm but others range up to 5/6cms). Surface condition is also varied with some pieces quite fresh, and others rather battered/rolled. Overall, about 5% is burnt (a few at low temperatures, one or two at high) and some are digested. The assemblage has little integrity - it seems to have diverse derivations. Does not look like floor, but maybe fill which includes some floor sweepings (the smaller battered pieces) along with other less derived material. Some fish and microfaunal removed.
