Discussion: Loose ashy layer in sw corner of b49, space 335. Note: Horn core between x15 and x16 measured 55 mm x 160 mm. Unit 14460 was originally excavated as unit 7957 in 2004. This material is clearly different to the vast majority of other deposits recorded in this building. It's loose ashy matrix is closer in apperance to midden deposits than internal surfaces or construction material. The large number of artefacts found in this deposit is in clear contrast to the sterile nature of the most other deposits. Is this deposit midden material that has been imported into Building 49? Is it the result of a house clearance episode with material dumped in corner of the Space? Is this deposit and associated artefacts originating from an underlying building, which as been deposited as a 'foundation deposit' in the platform core?
