Discussion: Unit 16942 is the thin layer of roomfill right above surface 16947 in sp. 449. It contains quite a lot of animal burrows, making it hard to find surface 16947. In front of f.3333, in front of f. 3326 and f. 5057, the unit consists mostly of wall plaster deposit, lying loosly on the surface. The fill in front of f. 3324 consists of a lot of clay, and the difference between the fill and surface is hard to tell. Also the SW corner is very disturbed by animal burrows, making it hard to define what is fill and what is the surface. The fill contains a lot of clayballs, especially in the NW corner in front of sp. 450, in that part of the unit, the soil is extremely firm and contains compact brown lenses. Clayballs are counted from 6.8.11 under unit number 16942, before they were assumed to belong to cluster 15343. Though this unit was arbitrarily formed, it is still somehow naturally defined. It follows the surface 16947, that means it is sloping downwards from f. 3326 to the center of space 449. At the lowest part in the center it is heavily disturbed by an animal burrow. In front of f. 3324 the fill is very thin, there is only very little soil between the wall plaster in the SE corner and surface 16947. The fill in front of f. 3324 looks quite homogenous. It is dark, soft, and includes rarely any finds. The fill in front of f. 3326 and f. 3333 is still characterized by a secondary deposit of wall plaster (lying in all angles) mixed up with lenses of brownish soil, but in contrast to wall plaster concentration15380 these pieces of wall plaster form a rather loose deposit so that firm lenses can be easily peeled off from surface 16947. For some reason these lenses are not as compacted as 15380, justifyng the arbitrary seperation of 16942 from the fill units superimposing. The fill in front of f. 5057 is heavily disturbed by animal burrows and extremely compacted. Approaching the opening between f. 5057 and f. 3326, the soil is firmest and contained several clayballs, that are forming a real cluster in sp. 450, having unit number 16961. U. 16942 also contains some ashy spots with charcoal, but these spots are not mixed up with finds.
