Discussion: When excavated this realised after a while that not much infill remaining as 4439-although didn't realise until had taken out quite a bit non-infill material (4446).
Recognition: Arbitrary layer representing interface between 4321 and floor below.
Definition: Northern third of base of 4321, with north wall Shrine 10 Building 6. East-west wall of Shrine 10 Building 6. South-arbitrary string line. West-west wall of anti-chamber to Shrine 10 Building 6
Execution: Mattock/ trowel
Condition: Dry weather, soil still damp
Consistency: Compact but soft
Colour: Darkish brown with small patches of lighter creamy brown marl. Orange patches visible in north-west corner
Texture: Clayey silt
Bedding: Massive
Inclusions: Occasional charcoal flecks, bone frags, clay ball fragments, stones. Moderate brick/ mortar/ plaster frags. Frequent marl lumps.
Post-depositional Features: Roots visible following interface with wall to the east.

Unit description: Flot sample 2623 Transition between floor and infill in space 173. This is the most northern of the three arbitrary units that the space was divided into. The others are 4440 and 4441. Unlike these units there was no bone from the dry sieved material. The colour is generally light brown with a small amount of burn fragments.
