Unit 13148
Category: Cut dug in 2006
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: pit cuts
Data Category Information: Description: pit
Dimensions: N-S=5.50m, E-W=1.60m, max depth=1.62m
Discussion: Series of Neolithic pits that appear to have been dug to extract building material. Three pits became incorperated into one large cut, and all filled with the same midden deposit, making it impossible to make a sequence of the original cuts. Slumping on the Northern side, and the fact that the middle built up in layers, suggests that the pits gradually infilled. The pit cuts will extend beyond the eastern L.O.E for 2006. The middle pit cut could not be bottomed due to Health and Safety of height of section.
SMc 08/07/07: Eastern extent of pit excavated and central part bottomed. See plan 07/603
