Unit 1451
Category: layer dug in 1996
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: packing
Data Category Information: In Situ: in-situ; Location: floor (packing only); Material: pise-like; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Obsidian point found actually in deposit below 1451, but in packing peeping up through it; point is pointed end down, and almost vertically set. Sub -floor 'orange sandy' packing-same stuff as 1434 but not continuous with it .( Later:) yes it is -following up through the north, along edge of main east platform. Local dump in this corner, feathers out to the west. As with 1434 thinner in patches, so lower deposit rises up through it giving the appearance of small pits. For example that in which the obsidian point was found. In places 'orange sand' also occurs as patches in this lower deposit, all supporting the idea that the two were laid down within a short space of time of each other. Some risk of contamination between 2 layers therefore inevitable. Dry Sieve Information: Unknown if any dry sieve
