Dimensions: 1.05 m E-W x 1.45 m N-S, depth max 1.5 cm
Discussion: Surface; flat and levelled but dipping dramatically, c. 3 cm from S baulk, c. 3 cm down and into baulk. Greyish-brown (dark) with patches of yellowish white plaster fragments. Towards base (of layer) smooth, levelled surface generally orange in colour but with patches of mixed colours (white, grey, light brown).
Probably the same deposit as the grey ashy layers (3910) in …..….unreadable.
Removal of baulk to S reveals that this unit is the equivalent of (3913) and (3926), ie 2 units removed as one.
Recognition: Levelled, flat surface, darker colour than previous floor, also visible in section as new layer.
Definition: Defined by baulks in W and S, posthole cut in SE and by platform in E.
Execution: Layer by leaf trowel.
Condition: Slightly moist.
Consistency: loose
Colour: 10 YR 6/3 pale brown at top, 10 YR 5/4 yellowish brown at base (dominant) + patches of 10 YR 4/1 dark gray
Texture: silty clay
Bedding: layered (see colour description)
Inclusions: rare bone fragments, c. 2% charcoal
Post-depositional Features: some salts, some root activity
Basal Boundary: flat/levelled/anthropogenic/sharp
