Unit 3930
Category: layer dug in 1998
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: small fill of occupation debris
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: occupation; Deposition: multiple
Dimensions: 0.17 N-S x 0.10 E-W x 0.05 m
Discussion: (3930) represents a small spill of what seems to be some sort of mixed occupation debris above the larger ashy deposit above the same floor (3934). It initially seemed to be continous with a more substantial deposit beneath, extending beneath the floor layers to the N of the S wall of space 117. However, this was disproved on excavation.
Recognition: A mixed/salty layer which lay above the powdery ash of (3929).
Definition: See above.
Execution: Trowel/leaf trowel.
Condition: Dry/crumbly.
Consistency: firm
Colour: varies main matrix 10 YR 6/2 light brownish grey
Texture: silty clay loam
Bedding: massive
Inclusions:
Post-depositional Features: heavily encrusted with salt
Basal Boundary: fairly distinct although the material beneath to the W side of the deposit was very similar and initially thought to be part of the same deposit, the surface was irregular/wavy
