Discussion: Cut for fire installation F.290. Only seems to appear under E side of oven. Filled with brown silt and fire debris from ashier FI structure.

Seems to be quite a substantial depth to be just filled with make up. Maybe oven structure itself is very heavy. Is it normal to dig such a deep pit for ovens? Oven lining which was in the make up suggest a possibility that a previous FI was situated here but if so it has been completely scoured out, none of the oven lining was in situ. 

Recognition: Only sure when fills were excavated that this was part of F.290, not obvious pre-exc. 

Definition: E of niche, N of F.268. Cuts plaster feature to S (platform ) a brown silt (3940) to E. 

Execution: Trowel + leaf. 

Shape: sub-oval 

Sides: fairly steep on S and W 

Base Break: moderate 

Base: flat
