Entry: EMM continued working in Space 449 (15180), exposing walls F.3324 and 5056 and buttress F.3326. There are some interesting finds clustering south of 3326, including antler and a horn. BOD started to take off floor U.15170 in Space 446 and found out that t... click here for more...

Entry: SCS continued working on the clarification of Features 2429, 2428, 3327, 5052 and 3320. Unfortunately, the decision abutting/ binding into for F.2428 and 5052, and also 2429 and 3327, is still not possible - partially because of the rodent holes and parti... click here for more...

Date: 8/18/2010
Entry: I am still working in pit F.3331, exposing the next layer 15195 and the human bone clusters (15199) from an adult - probably all from 15192 individual. Our workers removed the massive flat stone that was inside the pit fill. Human bones are popping up in ... click here for more...

Date: 8/18/2010
Entry: JFB continued in pit F.3331, where a lot of non-articulated human bones now appear everywhere in the northern part and under the large stone, which was taken out today. Before taking it out, we documented the state of excavation in drawing and photo. E... click here for more...

Entry: LKH continued fill unit 15194. XHB exposed floor U.15341 further (fill above: 15196). It is still continuing towards west, but considerably sloping downwards in that part. He stopped cleaning the floor to make a section through the fill above (15196) in t... click here for more...

Date: 7/18/2011
Entry: We finished removing the top soil (15345) today, brushed and fotographed the trench extension afterwards. Already, archaeological contexts start appearing. Over Sp.342, directly on the trench section, a cluster of human bones (F.3340) was found, excavated... click here for more...

Date: 7/19/2011
Entry: We are moving pleasingly fast in the trench extension of Trench 5. The only limiting factor to the speed of the excavation is the soil sieving, so we are currently working on three sieves. JHB and RHB finished U.15351 over Space 454. They went down to th... click here for more...

Date: 7/20/2011
Entry: DLG and PTW finished U.15349, which differs from the other topsoil layers on roughly the same level (15350, 15351) because it contains building materials such as dark grey brick, plaster, lime, burnt red brick and lumps of pale yellow clay. Most of these ... click here for more...

Date: 7/23/2011
Entry: Thursday 21st July we continued excavating in the trench extension. DLG continued U.15358 west of Sp.343 and 342. DKK, CMB and EMM continued the massive U.15357 over the southern part of Sp.342, where JFB also excavated, documented and removed the skull o... click here for more...

Name: HLS
Team:
Date: 7/24/2011
Entry: Today I continued on U. 15355. It was slower work today since there were no workers on sieves so we had to sieve all the soil ourselves. This was probably especially limiting for those of us still moving large amounts of soil. The pit (F. 3331) has a lot ... click here for more...
