Unit 22684
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: platform, bench, and wall plaster
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: raised area (platform); Material: plaster; Deposition: layered (wall plaster); Basal Spit: painted
Discussion: This layer is the earliest plaster layer put on platform F. 7952, bench F. 7966, and wall F. 7712 as a single event. It scraped off of the layers below very easily, revealing the makeup of platform F. 7952 and a subsequent plastering of bench F. 7966. It joins with the paint on threshold F.22699, though this was excavated as a separate unit. This was the first plaster applied after post u. 22653 was established on the makeup of platform F. 7952.
Consistency: friable, scrapes off easily
Colour: white, painted red on top
Texture: plaster
Bedding: layered
Inclusions: none
Post-depositional Features: cutting of burial cuts u. 22679 and 22681; animal burrows
Basal Boundary: clear, removing this layer revealed the separate construction of the bench F. 7966 on top of platform F. 7951
