Discussion: First recognised oven cut when removing (2870) from S side where cut into wall F.97, and could see plaster line showing line of wall having removed (2870), when removed (3130) could see plaster line continuing. For some reason a step left where the oven keyed into the wall. Possibly cutting layer at N end which runs under floor of oven F.252. 

 

Recognition: Recognised the cut when excavating (2870) on the S side of the oven, material peeled away easing from the edge of the cut, defined the rest of the cut when removed (3130) and (3139). 

Definition: The cut is cut into the wall 97, on the S side and into floor layer(-s) at the E end. 

Execution: Trowel. 

Condition: Dry. 

Shape: oval/subrectangular 

Sides: vertical S side, slightly convex E end 

Base Break: sharp 

Base: flat to irregular
