Area: South

Interpretive Categories: sub-floor deposit

Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: floor (packing only); Material: pise-like; Deposition: homogeneous

Dimensions: 1.06 x 0.31 x

Discussion: (3610) represents an irregular deposit of very crumbly, blocky material in the northern half of space 117, beneath floor layers (3605). Its surface was fairly smooth and level, in contrast to the very irregular surface of a variety of deposits which it overlay. It lipped up to a plastered surface (possible platform) and may have been placed there to level the surface of the deposits to the W of this.

Recognition: Distinguished by its blocky/crumbly texture and homogenous brown colouring.

Definition: Defined by salt encrustation.

Execution: Trowel/leaf.

Condition: Dry and crumbly.

Consistency: friable

Colour: 2.5 Y 5/3 light olive brown

Texture: silty clay

Bedding: massive

Inclusions: occasional charcoal flecks/pebbles/stones

Post-depositional Features: salt encrustation

Basal Boundary: an irregular, wavy basal boundary, it was sharp and clear in places, but elsewhere, the similarity of (3610) to the layers beneath, made the boundary hard to distinguish, it was marked by salt encrustation for much of its extents
