Discussion: 4958 was the cut for the basin and later oven F533. It was straight sided, level based and had an odd 'plug-like' hollow at its eastern end. It seems to have been cut initially to create a basin in the floor, which was then lined with plaster. It was later re-used to hold an oven.

Sides: almost vertical on the southern and western sides, more gradual to the north (where it was truncated) and east

Base Break: curved smoothly in to the base on all sides (most steeply to the south and west)

Base: a well flatterened base, sloping from west to east and dipping sharply into a 'plug-like' hollow at the eastern end

Orientation: east-west
