Description: A cluster of three greyish-white pebbles within the matrix of the dirty floor(s) contained within unit 4978. They were otherwise unremarkable (to my untrained eye !) and so were not planned or photographed in detail.

Discussion: 4991 was a small discrete cluster of pebbles within a compound layer of 'dirty' floors (4978) in the south east corner of building 23/ space 178. They probably relate to some sort of food preparation or other activity that took place in the area but are difficult to interpret beyond this. There was no evýdence that they were burýed wýthýn a cut, rather they seem to have been deposýted as part of the general waste above the floor surface contained within unit 4978.
