Entry: We finished excavating the midden deposit (12961) in space 60 the day before yesterday. This deposit turned out to be quite thick in places along the eastern edge of the space against the wall F.2211. This deposit was only present along the eastern side o... click here for more...

Entry: We've been rained off today and, although its stopped now, walking on site will just trash the archaeology at the moment so I've time to do a longer diary entry. We have stopped digging in space 90 and taking space 279 down instead. This is another extern... click here for more...

Date: 7/1/2006
Entry: We have a few developments to report on the pit (filled with 12970 and 12971) but generally work has been slow today as we put up another shelter which took half of the day. The layer (12976) sealing the pit contained fragment of late pot and so I now thi... click here for more...

Date: 7/2/2006
Entry: This morning we quickly decided that we were not getting anywhere looking for the pit cut from the top of the midden, and that this was most likely to be because it doesn't exist. In the section along the edge of excavation to the east we could clearly se... click here for more...

Entry: After finishing putting canvas up over the final part of the last 40 40 shelter we went back to midden digging. Started taking out midden (as 12988) from the west side of the space (279) and just worked towards the east side. Picked up a distinctive tip-l... click here for more...

Entry: We excavated more of the midden deposit (12988) this morning - up to the western edge of (12980), which is the upper midden overlying (12988). We can now say that (12980)=(12971). The excavation of (12988) released another mud-bricky demolition/dumping de... click here for more...

Date: 7/8/2006
Entry: We are beginning to get a better idea of the midden deposits in Space 279. A number of the compound layers we have excavated consist of a thickish series of more finely laminated midden dumps with a two more distict layers underlying these. The upper of t... click here for more...

Entry: 08 07 2006 We had a visit from Goddesses on Wednesday so no diary entry. The last few days Lisa and myself have been excavating a large midden deposit (13103). This extended almost completely across the space from east to west. On the west side of the ... click here for more...

Entry: We have continued excavating building 64 removing the room fills. Between the layers of room fill in Space 287 was a burial (f.2231/units 13119-13121) containing the disarticulated bones of limbs that must have still been fleshy when they went in since th... click here for more...

Date: 7/16/2006
Entry: Work is progessing in space 279. We removed the fill of a large pit [13128] at the end of last week. This fill (13127) was prioritised as it was a clear discrete fill and although it was midden material it did not have the laminated layers sugesting that ... click here for more...
