Unit 3110

Area: South
Interpretive Categories: brick
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick; Deposition: homogeneous
Dimensions: 0.42 x 0.27 x 0.26
Discussion: (3110) represents three courses of highly degraded brick in what remained of the remnant stump of wall [71]. These were closely bonded with the mortar, so diffcult to separate from this, but easily distinguishable from the very mixed materiasl surrounding them. They were slopped down to the north , but this seemed to be a result of slumping rather than representing a deliberate cut into the wall, to add the foundations for subsequent walls above, as was originally thought (according to section 414)
Recognition: The wall [71] was distinctly different from the mixed composition of its surrounding units. The brick in it (3110) was distinctive for its sandy homogeneous nature
