Unit 30229
Category: Cut dug in 2013
Area: TPC
Interpretive Categories: Terracing Cut
Data Category Information: Description: general levelling
Discussion: This cut digs into the redeposited mud brick units u.20272 and u.20221. It was likely made for the construction of walls f.3948 and f.3984, and the establishment of the surface associated with these walls (f.7153). The edges are surprisingly jagged and unclear, corresponding with the edges of these two walls. The cut is extremely large, but the calcium formations on the north face of the cut, signifying an interface between surfaces has made it sometimes easier to identify. It is surprisingly sloping and irregular, and was difficult to predict during excavation although easy to view as the grey mud-bricks were packed up against orange Neolithic (?) mud-brick material.
Shape: roughly rectangular-- at least within Trench 3
Sides: jagged, irregular, and sloping-- difficult to identify with certainty during excavation
Base Break: sloping and/or stepped
Base: generally flat-- slopes up toward East
Orientation: N/A
