Description: A cluster of four obsidian flakes within the matrix of the floor layers contained within unit 4987 

 

Discussion: 5005 was a small cluster of obsidian flakes just to the east of a larger cluster of obsidian flakes (4989) lying within the floor layers contained within unit 4987 in the siuth east corner of building 23/ space 178. It differed from 4989 in that the flakes were scattered within the matrix of 4987 rather than being disinct from it. It provides more evidence that obsidian was being worked in this area contemporary to the use of the floors contained within unit 4987.
